Pacific Beach: A View Looking Towards Mexico

While the surf scene is very prominent in this tiny corner of the west coast, don’t let that fact hinder bringing along companions who may not be as into riding waves. There are a myriad of enjoyable activities all within a few minutes of driving from Pacific Beach that will excite anyone in the group. Most of the frequent visitors to Pacific Beach rarely stray too far off the agreeable beaches and boardwalk but for the more adventurous there are a variety of other ways to benefit from all that this unique town has to offer. A plethora of shops, bars and restaurants span the main streets of Pacific Beach that are unique to this part of town and twice a week a handful of the side streets will close down to offer up local goods and produce from vendors from all around San Diego county.

Another Side of Pacific Beach

Granted, Pacific Beach is relatively small, yet for its size this cozy, beachside surf town offers up an impressive amount of potential for locals and visitors alike. After a few days in Pacific Beach, assuming that you are already surfed-out or are in need to entertain the non-surfers in the group and you have transportation, the options are nearly endless. Within an hour of Pacific Beach are nearly a dozen or so different and unique campsites and trails that offer up a unique view to this corner of the world. Torrey Pines is one of the better known or more frequented trails that overlooks the world renowned golf course as well as runs along the Pacific Ocean for several miles. If everyone in the group is of the legal age for consuming alcoholic beverages, there are a number of breweries in the area including Karl Strauss, Modern Times, Ballast Point and Coronado Breweries. For those more inclined to the grapes, Temecula offers a wide variety of wines and scenic tours around the local vineyards less than 45 minutes from Pacific Beach.
